Municipal Leak Detection & Repair

Municipal Services:

⦿ Locate Leaks in WATER MAINS in City Streets, both MAIN and LATERAL LINES to any Building

⦿ Complete WATER SYSTEM SURVEYS for both Small & Large Water Districts

⦿ Leak Locating in FIRE SUPPLY LINES / High Pressure Underground Fire Suppression Systems

⦿ Leak Inspections, Testing and Flushing FIRE HYDRANTS

From an environmental perspective, this situation wastes a great deal of water — a precious resource that is becoming more valuable every day. From the water utility’s perspective, leaks contribute to the amount of non-revenue water — in this case, water that has been produced and lost before it reaches the customer — and that places a financial burden on the agency.

Finding and fixing leaks is a great way to conduct preventative maintenance and identify the most pressing issues for repair. Through the use of advanced technologies, FSC can analyze city water mains and survey and map entire water systems that empower cities to make most informed choices on repair prioritization.

LEAK DETECTION for municipal and private owned water systems is becoming increasingly important. As many cities face aging pipelines and water supplies, leaks are becoming more frequent and more costly. In many communities, 10 to 20 percent of water pumped into distribution systems may be lost due to leaks. As infrastructure gets older, the water loss might rise to more than 50 percent. With studies suggesting approximately 240,000 water main breaks in the United States each year, it’s apparent America’s aging — and leaking — water infrastructure needs critical attention to offset disruptions caused by broken water mains and the impact of daily water loss, both fiscal and environmental.

We can identify problem spots within feet of a defect

Monitoring IS an early warning system

FSC’s advanced detection system pinpoints underground leaks in water mains to within just three feet by collecting and analyzing acoustic data, helping identify trouble spots and speed repair before they become major problems.

This can be done by conducting inspections at different intervals: monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually. Inspections should be carried out as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Physical inspections, where you can visually look out for signs of trouble like wear or corrosion on the system, should be conducted on a monthly basis. You also need to call in a qualified fire technician to inspect the FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM every few years in order to ensure the existing set up complied to the current code.

What to do in case of a water main breaks checklist:

✔ Contact FSC to Alert & Activate our Emergency Response Team

✔ Locate All Shut off Valves on the Property

✔ Test Functionality of Valves

✔ FSC will Walk-through to Determine How to Isolate Water Lines

✔ Determine if Additional Valves will be Necessary

✔ Have Prints Onsite and Valve Keys Available
